Hello, my name is Sven. You probably won't know me, but you may well know my car. I now own the GTM Libra which was built by Dave Boud whom i believe was a previous member here.

i've owned the car for about 2 1/2 years & am loving it. It has a 1.8vvc engine fitted now & also recently changed the reg number to J99 GTM.

its not the first GTM that i've owned. Back in the late 80's/early 90's i had a coupe which i fully stripped & rebuilt.

i did try to join this site about a year ago but couldn't seem to register. Anyway this time all went through OK.

i hope to be able to contribute to the site & also meet some of you at meets/shows.

Sven

Hi Sven - nice to see the old girl stil going well.

She was spotted at the Silverstone Classic a short while back - I've got a nice photo but can't seem to upload as access is denied. Any ideas Craig?

Hi Dave,

Nice to hear from you!

Other people have had the issue as well but I'm unable to reproduce it. Can you tell me about how you got the message, what steps you took etc? What size images were they?

Thanks!

Hi Dave,

I though you might spot this post!

She's running really well now. Fitted Protech shocks all round last year which has improved the ride & got rid of the clunks & bangs from the rear end. Don't think it handles any better but is a smother ride. Also got the engine running nicely now. Had a vibration at 4000rpm (right in the middle of the rev range & also at 70mph in top) which was eventually traced to a loose manifold steady bracket. The reason it took so long to find was it could only be seen from under the car (i don't have a ramp). Also since i'd had it, the engine would cut out momentarily at about 6000rpm. I was a bit dubious about messing with the Emerald ECU & didn't get the cable to connect it to a laptop when i bought it. What i didn't realise is the Emerald is just down the road from me ( about 20 miles). So got a cable from them & the problem was rather obvious when i looked at the map (especially ignition map). Three settings were negative instead of positive (see pic below). So sorted that & she now runs a treat. May have her set up by Dave Walker at Emerald next year as they're so close by.

yeah, was at Silverstone classic on the sat & sunday. First time i've been & was a really good weekend. Def be going next year.

Sven

Strange i added an image to my first post, but like Dave can't add one now?

Hi Sven, Dave,

Sorry to hear you're having trouble, everything is still fine for me (I have no idea why becuase I have the same settings, permissions as everyone else).

Could you have a read through this guide I wrote and let me know where thing go awry?

Thanks for persevering, glad you got it working!

As for the ECU ignition map, even I can spot the problem! How does something like that happen? I'm sure it can't have been programmed that way.

The previous owner said he'd downloaded the map from t'interweb. I'm guessing he didn't check it very thoroughly before installing it.
