Is there an old forum? If so how do I see it?

Hi All,

Have been a member since buying a Spyder in November. I've also been using GTMOC and Bristol Kit Car Club forums.

I recently posted on GTMOC asking for advice regarding a possible planned upgrade to a VVC engine and whether this can be done keeping the R65 gearbox or whether a PG1 is essential, and what else I need to consider. It was suggested I take a look on here as it has apparently all been discussed before but I can't find this on the forum here. As there only seem to be a small number of threads I'm wondering if there was an old version of the forum that is maybe archived somewhere and if so how can I check it out to find the information?

Good Day

Sorry can't help with your questions but I do have a Knackered engine with a good PG1 still attached, if you want any bits or indeed all of it your more than welcome. Not looking for any money just been to slack to move them to the dump!!

Cheers Andy,

I've actually got a PG1. The guy a bought the Spyder off had bought a complete MGF rear subframe with engine, gearbox, driveshafts etc to upgrade from the 1.4 to the current 1.6. He couldn't get hold of the special PG1 mounting bracket so mated the 1.6 to the R65 but passed on all the other bits in case I ever needed them. I was hoping the VVC (if I ever find a decent one at the right price) can simply relace the 1.6 and keep the R65 in place to avoid having to change out all the other bits, including getting hold of the PG1 mounting bracket and changing the gearchange mechanism etc.

So does anyone know how a newbie gets to access all the old forum archives?

Sanzomat,

Craig manages the site and access to the old forum and can hopefully help you here. The archived site was originally only available to paid members so the decision was made to allow new owners access to that info if the original  or a previous owner of the car had been a paid up member.

But in answer to your question you can fit a VVC to an R65 you just need the right flywheel.

Dudley Shearman at Talon Sportscars has done just that numerous times in his Metro conversions and could probably advise.

Thanks for your help Gareth.

I managed to find Fiona's old account and so have handed that over to Dave now.

Cheers
